Podyjí National Park, which was declared 1. 7. 1991 is the only area of 63 km2 the smallest of the national parks in the Czech Republic. It is located southwest of Znojmo. The protection of the unique territory began in 1978, when the Protected Landscape Area of Podyjí was declared. However, much of it was inaccessible to the border zone. 1. January 2000 was declared on the Austrian bank of the Dyje River Thayatal National Park, creating a unique bilateral territory of European significance.

Podyjí National Park is a unique example of the preserved landscape of the river valley. The river Dyje flows through the protected area with a deep cut that reaches the depth of up to 220 m. The canyon has numerous meanders that follow the valley created by the side tributaries above the flow of the river rock formations and walls, not missing the rocky sea. Similar territories of our homeland were devalued by the construction of hundreds of recreational buildings and communications. Here the iron curtain was prevented from building (the rest of the engine barriers with the towers can be seen at the village of Čížov.

The territory is varied by the number of plant and animal communities that are given by the alternate exposure of the river slopes that form the axis of the territory. The valley of the river is almost overgrown with forests - in the western part there are remnants of the original sub-mountainous beech with fir and thieves, for the eastern part there are characteristic Dubohabra vegetation. Some rare species such as juniper, mahabelka, sour, and others are also represented. Particularly protected plant species are on the territory of the National Park at eighteen. They include purple potatoes, velvety flowers, black snakes, divisely gorgeous and many orchids.

Besides the Dyje valley, the heaths, located in the south-eastern part of the park, which originated from the clearing of forests and the subsequent grazing of cattle, are also interesting.

No wonder that such a beautiful corner attracts more and more visitors. First of all, there were pedestrians, with the increasing development of cycling increasing more and more cyclists, which are now more than half.

In the center of Podyjí National Park in the village of Čížov in the spring and autumn on weekends, in the main tourist season through the whole week tourist center. Tourists can get valuable information about the park, tourism and other information. Promotional materials, maps and postcards are available.

The main points of entry into the national park are in the east of Znojmo and in the west of Vranov nad Dyjí. Both places connect the 32 km with a long red marked hiking trail, such as the Havranic Heath, the Valley of the Nine Mills, the Šobes (vineyards with wine tasting here), the rock formations on the Pasherák Trail, Ice Caves, Vranov Wrinkles, ...

From there, to Znojmo turn from Znojmo a green route to the King's Table, in Popice Green to Sealsfield Stone, Green to New Guild's Ruins, Keplech Blue to Hardeck Lookout and Austrian Hardegg.

Nový Hrádek

In the heart of the Podyjí National Park is situated on the banks of the meandering river Nový Hrádek.

An extensive ruin that extends beyond the 8000 m2 stretches to the narrowest point of the promontory, almost on all sides surrounded by the Dyje River, forming the Austrian border.

The area was once the village of Lukov. In 1358, in exchange for another village with Lucky monastery, the holder of the Lukov village, the Moravian Margrave, Jan Jindřich, the brother of King Charles IV, was built and built here a hunting lodge. After his death, representatives of various Austrian, Polish and Czech noble families (Einzinger, Krajířová, Althanová, Stádničtí and others) were replaced by the castle. At the end of 16. century became part of the Vranov manor. In 1645, it was captured and partially defeated by the Swedes, and has been gradually dilapidated since then. In 19. century served as aristocratic owners.

It is certainly interesting that after the First World War, Nový Hrádek enjoyed the Club of Czech Tourists. In 1926, at its own expense, the roof and ceilings of the newer, more resilient parts were repaired. In the right wing there was a flat for the groom and he sold refreshments here. A sleeping-house in the tower was offered for sleeping. The entire area, accessible to 1950, was captured by the border zone, and until 1989 was completely inaccessible to the public.

The area of the ruins consists of two courtyards, a castle moat and two castles. The castle enters the stone bridge over a large moat. Using narrow bridges and passages, you can climb to the top of the half-mooned tower tower and from here look into the sea green.

As if three rivers flowed alongside the rocks, the fantastic curves of the Thracian Dwarf appear around the promontory called Umlauf. Just by comparing the map with the map, it is clear which of the spruces belongs to Austria and which of us.

Lovers of nature right in the area will delight the great stands of a unique divisive gorgeous, which will overcome the height of the human. It is possible to see a rare tree snail, a black stork flying overhead ...
