Mausoleum Frances and Dionysus in Andrássyovců Krásnohorskom Podhradí
"We do not know how to look at the marble walls, and if these marble mirrors sow sun rays, we might feel like a fairy palace ..." (Rozsnyói hiradó, 30 October 1904)
The "fairytale palace" is the mausoleum of František and Dionýs Andrássyů in Krásnohorské Podhradí - a unique Art Nouveau monument completed in the autumn of 1904. The building, surrounded by a large park, with valuable exterior and interior décor, we Gemercans perceive as a daily everyday reality. Few of us realize that this mausoleum is the unique object on which they were used, the Art Nouveau remodeled elements of the early Christian and partly of the oriental art. At the same time, it is one of the few realizations in Slovakia at the beginning of 20. century, which is the result of the work of the representatives of the Munich jugendstil and not the Viennese-Budapest art of Art Nouveau, which was directly active on our territory.
