On my cycling tours, I prefer to browse Austria, where the level of campsites is usually at a very good and high level. The Kaiserhof campsite is also a quality campsite, but it also has its pros and cons, so I again present my observations from two visits to this campsite, located a few kilometers from the town of Aschach an der Donau (the Danube is read) in Upper Austria. .
Absolutely amazing surroundings of the camp
The first thing that completely captivated me at the Kaiserhof campsite is the beautiful surroundings of the campsite. The camp is situated at the bend of the Danube River and there are steep green hills all around, which are over 400 meters high. The camp is located directly on the Danube, so it is an ideal place for all cyclists who travel on the undemanding Danube cycle path, which connects Passau in Germany, Vienna in Austria and Bratislava in Slovakia.
The camp has a more family character
Another advantage of the camp was a pleasant grass surface, which I always personally appreciate a lot, because a tent stands on my beautifully cut arm. The background of the camp is a large Gasthof, which also has a guest house where you can also stay. The price for one night here for one person with breakfast is around 42 euros. In the camp you will pay around 15 euros for one person per day, including the tent. Otherwise for carpenters it is here space for camping, caravans and mobile homes for about 135 seats.
Sanitary facilities and missing kitchen
Now, I come to the part where we talk about the middle ground. There is nothing wrong with the social workers, they are fully functional and, above all, clean, which is typical of Austria, and I am always happy about that. Otherwise, the bathroom has 13 cabins for showers, one washing machine and one clothes dryer. However, the big disadvantage is the absence of a kitchen, which is always a disappointment for me, who saves every penny and always cooks in the camp. Yes, there is a great restaurant where you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner, but you pay extra for the food. You also don't sit anywhere in the camp area, so if you don't have anything with you, you only have to sit on the grass.
However, sports and tourism are varied
Although I was in the camp for a short time, I found that the camp offers a number of interesting options. Since the camp is a few meters from the Danube, it is probably not surprising that there is a boat rental, which you can boldly use . The place is also suitable for fishing. And since there is a Danube cycle path right next to the campsite, which is fully paved, it can also be used for in-line skating or running or nording walking. You can also go for a walk or hike in the surrounding beautiful and especially healthy forests.
Unique scenery around the camp
In conclusion, however, I will give my personal tip. Order a beer or coffee at the Gasthof and sit on a bench by the Danube. And enjoy the quiet flow of the Danube, which is sometimes crossed by a large cruise ship that transports tourists from Passau to Vienna. And if you raise your head a little higher, you will see the silhouettes of the old castle and the church tower opposite the peaks. What else could you wish for..
Camp in the area - a tip for mobile homes
If you still didn't have a tent with you, don't be afraid to come by caravan, I enclose a link to a nearby campsite "Wohncamping Oasis", which lies along the Danube, south of the campsite about 15 minutes by car. Here: Accommodation - camp site - Oase
