Town of Mělník is a district town in the Central Bohemian Region 30 km north of Prague. It lies on the right bank of the Elbe opposite the mouth of the Vltava.

Lock, originally a medieval castle, of which the vaulted hall in the west wing and the gate from the 15th century have been preserved. Mělník Regional Museum is housed in the building of a former Capuchin monastery, originally a burgher's house dating from the second half of the 2th century on Peace Square in the historic city center.
