History of Beroun
The Royal town of Beroun is located about 30 km southwest of Prague, on the business line of our capital with the western part of the republic and Germany. The old trade route was replaced by the D5 motorway and the railway linking the city with Prague, Pilsen or Rakovník. The town lying on the confluence of the Berounka and Litavka rivers attracts visitors not only with their historical monuments and rich cultural and sporting offer, but also with their beautiful surroundings. It is the starting point for two protected landscape areas - Bohemian Karst and Křivoklátsko.
A great attraction is also the Berounská Town Mountain with a lookout tower and a beardhouse, where 2000 has been the heroes of the evening TV Méďové Matěj, Vojta and Cuba.
Beroun is an important center of light and medium industry. He started building his industrial zone at the beginning of 90. years, and the local companies - Cembrit CZ, as (manufacturer of roofing materials), Linde Frigera sro (manufacturer of refrigeration technology) or PAI sro (manufacturer of automotive components) belong together with the joint-stock company Českomoravský cement, a member of the HeidelbergCement Group in the Czech Republic, among the most important employers town.
Culture and surroundings
In the surroundings of Pension Tony in Beroun and Beroun itself awaits visitors a lot of possibilities to enjoy themselves. There are many tourist attractions such as Točník, Žebrák, Karlštejn, Křivoklát or the Great Monument.
Beroun also offers a number of historical sights. One of them is the Český Kras Museum, which is at a distance of 1 from the Pension on Husovo náměstí. It includes the Pilsen Gate, which is located about 20 m up the Palacký Street. From the Hus square to the street Dolnohradební, after seeing 300 mk, you can see the town fortifications from the beginning of the royal city.
- Athletes can play Golf at Karlštejn or directly in Beroun, or enjoy the Eden Sportcenter, which is just 2 km away.
- Families with children certainly happy to go to the famous bears from the evenings, the bear enclosure in the forest park is only 0,5 km from the house.
- Heké trips are offered at Křivoklát and Karlštejn castles, Hořovice Chateau, Koněpruské Caves, the beautiful village of Svatý Jan pod Skalou or 18 kilometers away from Prague.
- Almost the 13,6 meter high viewing tower on the City Mountain was first opened on 1936's Easter holidays.
- Location: Dominant mountain in the center of Beroun, about 10 minutes by foot from Husovo náměstí.
A sought-after place for Beroun citizens and tourists is right in the middle of the town forest park. In a quiet environment of the park there were built children's playgrounds for small and big children and bear and the 1936 observation tower was repaired.
On the top of the Hill (492 m), which rises westwards above the town of Beroun, stands a lookout tower in the middle of the forest. The view from the lookout tower has already partially reduced the overgrown surrounding trees.
The Barrandien Geopark is situated right in the courtyard of the Czech Karst Museum, just a few meters from Hus Square. In this interesting open-air exhibition, those interested will be introduced to the geological development of Barrandien through typical, yet attractive exhibits ranging from the Cambrian to the Devon.
