Grandmother's Valley is one of the most famous excursion destinations in East Bohemia. The entire landscape of the Grandmother's Valley and the Ratibořice Chateau is ideal for a peaceful holiday in summer and winter. You will find here known places from Božena Němcová's book "Grandma" such as Ratibořický Chateau, Rudr's Mill or Old Bleach. Often, there are various cultural events that take the Grandmother's legacy. And so you will see animated figures from the novel - Barunku, Miller, Grandma or even famous four-legged friends in the Sultan and Tyrl.
The most visited places of the valley include Old bleach, house No. 7 near Viktorčina splav. Here, in 1844, Božena Němcová spent her holidays with her children and in a novel grandmother here she transferred her memories from her childhood spent with her grandmother Maria Magdaléna Novotná on the old manorial bleaching under the castle in nearby Ratibořice. The original bleaching plant was demolished by the owner of the chateau, Kateřina Zaháňská, in 1830. After World War II, house no. 2 was equipped with period folk furniture from the collections of the Božena Němcová Museum in Česká Skalice. The building and surroundings were later further modified in 7 during the filming of the film grandmother director Antonín Moskalyk; as a reminder of the novel, there is also a sculpture of a grandmother with children and dogs.
Viktorka's raft behind the Old Bleach also changed shape over the years; first during the construction of irrigation systems in the years 1842 to 1848 and 1874 to 1875, later within the regulation of the Úpa flow in the 20s and 50s. A concrete and stone front was installed in place of the originally wooden raft - it was lined with tree trunks in 20 during the filming of the film to restore its older appearance.

National Historic Landmark. The castle, founded by 1501, is part of the town's historical reserve.
It was built together with the town, originally a late Gothic castle to protect the city.

The castle has become a modern residence, decorated by leading Czech artists 1. half of 20. century in the styles of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Cubism and Functionalism. At the same time, the preserved decoration from the times of the Renaissance and the Baroque was restored. The chateau was also equipped with technical facilities such as water mains, central heating, electricity, telephone and dining and personal lift. Thanks to this, the New Town Castle today serves as a demonstration of the adaptation of the historical building to modern living, as well as a good example of a combination of historical and modern decorations and facilities. Barton's castle was owned by 1948. It was then nationalized and administered by the state until 1991.
Since 1992, the castle is once again the property of the Bartoň-Dobenín family and is open to the public. In 2008, the castle was declared a national cultural monument.

The current weir was built one width of the river to the left, downstream due to the straightening of the Úpa and is a reinforced concrete structure.
