It was built on the river Bóbr as protection against high water for the towns of Lubawka and Kamienna Góra. The lake also serves as a reservoir of high quality drinking water. The water area of Lake Bukówka has almost two hundred hectares. Due to the fact that it lies at an altitude of more than 500 meters, the climate is colder and the ice and snow last sometimes a hundred and ten days a year. Thanks to this, the area around Lake Bukówka is a popular winter sports center.
Rychory
Rýchory lies in the Krkonoše National Park on a mountain ridge above the town Žacléř. It leads this way trail, which uses information boards at ten stops to acquaint visitors with the most interesting parts of the reservation. The length of the nature trail is 6 kilometers and it is possible to complete it in the months from May to October. It is closed in winter for security reasons. In Rýchory, mainly beech forest grows and there are many species of protected plants that occur only in mountainous areas. From the peaks Mravenečník, Dvorský vrch and Červený vrch there are beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
