It lies near the solitude of Tešnov in the cadastral area of Bílá Třemešná, 4 km upstream from the town of Dvůr Králové nad Labem, in a narrow valley that passes through the Kocléřov ridge. On the left bank, it is bordered by the extensive forest complex of the Kingdom, the rest of the old border forest, after which the dam got its name.
The dam is unusual in Czech conditions with its highly aesthetic construction.
Ratibořice
is the local part of Česká Skalice. It is situated in the valley of Úpa and is known especially thanks to the writer Božena Němcová, who spent her childhood here. This influenced her future work and her most famous work, Grandmother, is a place set in Ratibořice. The local castle, Old bleach or Ludův Mlýn are especially a summer tourist destination.
Kuks
is a village located in the picturesque Podkrkonoší Mountains, in a quiet narrow valley of the upper Elbe, between the towns of Jaroměř and Dvůr Králové on the main road from Hradec Králové to the Giant Mountains. Here is a national cultural monument - Hospital Kuks. This Baroque complex also includes, for example, breathtaking allegories of human Virtues and Vices by Matthias Bernard Braun, the Church of St. Trinity, the ancient pharmacy U Granátového apples or the tomb of the founder of Kuks FA Šporek. The house also houses the only professional institution of its kind in our country - the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum. West of Kuks you will find a natural gallery of biblical scenes, named after the author Braun's Nativity Scene.
