Surroundings

Excursions around

Shopping is a good starting point for trips to the surrounding area. If you like cycling, you will definitely not miss the bike paths around Zákup and should also go in the direction of Mimoň along the routes of nearby Podralsko. It is the territory of the former military area Ralsko, which is now interwoven with well-maintained cycle routes. We are often surprised by beautiful natural scenery, which we would definitely not expect in a former military training ground. Mushroomers and blueberry pickers will also enjoy themselves here.

If we set out from Zákup in the direction of Doksy, we will certainly not miss the silhouette of the royal castle Bezděz from afar. If we conquer the hill on which the castle stands, the reward for our efforts will be a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Then we can either refresh ourselves in the waters of Macha Lake in Doksy or take a steamboat ride on it, or visit the KH Macha memorial.

When visiting Česká Lípa, the torso of the restored Lipý water castle, which lies directly on the road crossing the city center, will not escape our attention. Just a few meters from the castle stands the Renaissance Red Chateau. Also worth seeing is the Českolipské square with a fountain, a plague column, the newly renovated town hall and other houses. The largest church in the city is the Basilica of All Saints with the Augustinian monastery, which now houses the Museum of National History and Gallery. There are certainly a lot of other attractions, but in the end we can visit, for example, the confectionery and cafe Union, whose Art Nouveau interior and exterior is the pride of the city.

Admirers of traditional Czech glass in Nový Bor in the glass museum can enjoy a look at the art of today's forgotten master glassmakers, whose beautiful fragile creations, however, persist. Novoborsko is also an area of rural timbered buildings, which were often saved mainly by the cottagers. You were attracted here mainly by the peace and beautiful nature of the Lusatian Mountains.
The nearby Kamenický Šenov is known especially for the world-famous production of crystal chandeliers. Nearby lies the natural rock formation called Panská skála, popularly called Varhan, where the fairytale Princess Princess was filmed.
It is also worth mentioning the Sloup castle carved in sandstone, located in the village of the same name in the Novoborsk region. He is also one of the most popular tourist destinations.

The most famous sacral building in this region is probably the Basilica of St. Lawrence in Jablonné in Podještědí. Every year there are famous pilgrimages, frequently visited by believers and high church dignitaries. The town is also associated with the name of the well-known Mrs. Zdislava from Lemberk, the patroness of the family, the sick and the suffering.

There are, of course, many, many historical and natural attractions in the vicinity of Zákup and in the Českolipsko region. We have introduced you to at least some to serve as inspiration for your possible trips.
