Recreation and services in surroundings
The cottage is located in Prášile. In the only preserved village in the former military area Good Water. Today, Powys are an important, yet peaceful, tourist center. Surroundings Prasil is suitable for exploring different species and types of vegetation, with a great number of mountain streams, streams, lakes and prospects. In spring and summer there is the possibility of hiking and cycling, autumn wishes mushrooming and winter offers many cross-country trails (machine-treated). Possibility to use downhill courses in Železná Ruda, Hartmanice and Veľký Javor. During the summer holidays, there are green buses where there is a connection from Špičák to Boubín. From Prášil you can easily reach the Prášil Lake, the Poledník lookout tower, the Laka Lake, the Třejezerní Slat or the Křemelná River and many other attractions.

Mount Poledník
The top of the border with Germany. The nearest Czech city is Prášily (6 km). At its peak stands a former military building with a tower that once served as a military observer and jammer. Today is a lookout tower (1315 m) today. The meridian is sometimes called the noon mountain. Visitors can enjoy a wonderful view of the Šumava and the Bavarian Forest in good weather.
Lake Laka
Lake Laka is the smallest, but highest situated lake in the Bohemian Forest. It is located in the 1st zone of the Šumava National Nature Reserve.
Lake of glacial origin has an area of 2,5 ha and depth of 3,9 m, the bottom has peat. It is characterized by floating islands, whose position is still slowly changing. The islets are covered with peat, shrimp, wheat, but also blueberry and cranberry. It is surrounded by coniferous forests. The water comes from two tributaries from the slope of the peak Plesná and from the lake flows the Jezerní Potok, which flows into the Křemelná river.
Access to the lake is possible on foot or by bicycle, in winter on cross-country skiing along the blue tourist sign from the car park in Nové Hůrce (5,5 km).
Prášilské lake
Prášil Lake of glacial origin lies at the altitude of 1079 m on the northern slope of the Polední hora. The entire area is protected within the National Park zone I.
The surface area of the lake is 3,91 ha, the depth is estimated up to 30 m. Thanks to its high acidity it is from 70. years without fish. From the tip of the lake flows the Jezerni Brook, whose water flows into Křemelná after the connection with the Prašilský stream. Pod Prašilským jezerem is the so-called Stará Slamka - the swampy basin, the remains of the already overgrown lake.
Prášilské Lake is accessible from Prášil along the red tourist sign (5 km).
Vchynicko-Tetov channel
An important technical monument. The wood flood channel built in 1799-1801 by engineer J. Rosenauer as a connector of the Vydra and Křemelná rivers. The channel was supposed to overcome the unpleasant flow of the Otters at Antyglu. Channel length is 14,4km and height difference 190m. Artificial trough is sometimes up to 5 wide. In some places the channel is bridged. Until 1958, the channel was partly used up to Rokyt village. Today, only surplus water flows through the canal because the water from the substation in Mosau is already led by an underground pipeline into the Selsky vrch reservoir.
Chenek's saw
Čeněk's sawmill lies at the confluence of the Křemelná River with the Vydrou River in the Šumava Plains. The river Kreemelna and Vydra is the Otava River.
An actual saw was named after the timber trader Čenka Bubeníčka, who dug in 1863-70 years. The wood was then bound in rafts and sailed across the Otava River. The place is also known for the stay of Bedřich Smetana, who visited 1867 in the summer of the year to visit the sawmill owner. On the right bank of Otava you can find the so-called Smetana spruce, which Smetana himself planted here.
Nowadays, there is a functional hydroelectric power station Čeněk's sawmill and the Vydra hydropower plant from 1934-1938. Power stations are a functional technical monument. At the Vydra power plant there is a museum with a public display of the "Šumava energy", which includes the history of hydropower in Šumava, a model of the Černá Jezera power station, Vydra power plant model, the Vchynicko-tetovský channel and the pipeline for the Vydra power plant. In case of good weather, there is also a possibility to visit the Čeňkovy engine room.
The settlement of Čeněk's sawmill is the starting point of the Povydří nature trail, the Otava River downhill and many hiking, cycling and skiing routes.
