Schöneben is a large cross-country ski area near the Hochficht ski area and is located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. You can choose from several circuits, which are divided according to difficulty and length.
One of the trails takes you to the parking lot at the lower cable car station in the Hochficht ski area. The highest peak of the Blanský Forest (1.084 m) rises 7 km northwest of Český Krumlov. The nearest mountain of České Budějovice is clearly visible from the town. It is the destination of frequent trips of tourists from both Budweis and Cesky Krumlov. On its slopes there is a ski slope with ski lifts, so many visitors come here even in winter.
A stone lookout tower, the oldest in Bohemia, was built on the summit in 1825. It enables inland views of the České Budějovice and Třeboň Basins, as well as the border mountains, especially the Novohradské Mountains and a large part of the Bohemian Forest between Český Krumlov and Prachatice. In the immediate vicinity is a tourist cottage, which offers visitors refreshments and a place to relax. Near the cottage there is a sundial, the highest located in Bohemia. An observatory with a planetarium was built under the summit. Northwest of the summit is the nature reserve of the same name.
Access to the summit is facilitated by a chair lift from Krasetin, which overcomes a height difference of 1.860 meters on a 385 m long track. Walking tourists can use the green hiking trail from Holubov (6 km) or from Krasetín from the parking lot (about 4 km). You can also access the green trail from Český Krumlov (about 12 km). In addition, there is a red trail from Zlatá Koruna (about 10 km).
Lipno summer vacation
This route is designed primarily for more efficient cyclists due to its length of 108 kilometers. During the tour you can order the whole Lipno and you can see the beautiful nature on both banks.

The Schwarzenberg canal connects one of the tributaries of the Cold Vltava with the Austrian river Grösse Mühl, which is a tributary of the Danube. The total length of the canal is 44 kilometers.
The canal was built between 1789 and 1822 in the part of Šumava, which at that time was the property of Prince Schwarzenbegra, the tunnel was designed by engineer Jozef Rosenhauer. Its aim was to enable the transport of trunks of felled trees from inaccessible areas on the northern slopes of Šumava in the Vltava River Basin through the main European watershed near the former Růžový Vrchy / Rosenhügel settlement in the St. Thomas district to the Große Mühl and then to the Danube. city of Vienna. In total, nearly a hundred million cubic meters of firewood was transported from the Bohemian Forest to Vienna over a hundred years. The highest point of the whole Czech part of the Bohemian Forest on the state border with Austria. A few hundred meters from the northeastern edge of the lake basin is a massive boulder sea, through which the Deer Trail passes from Nová Pec to the lake.
Characteristic
Plechý massif is a relatively flat ridge covered with mountain spruce. A unique view from Plechý to Plešné Lake is possible only by the rock plateau near the 14-meter high granite monument of the famous poet Šumava Adalbert Stifter at the yellow trail to the top. About 400 m west of the summit there is a forest-free area that turns into a mountain peat bog with typical peat bog flora.
Access
The peak lies about 14 km west of Horní Planá and about 8 km from Nová Pec on the state border of the Czech Republic with Austria. Access to the top of Plechý is possible on the red ridge route from Nové Údolí through Třístoličník, Trojmezná and Trojmezí (15 km). Or from Nová Pec follow the blue and then green KČT to Plešné Lake and further to the top of Plechý.
