Terezie's valley

Terezie's valley, a natural English park, is located in the cadastral area New Castles. The area of this beautiful park, which covers 138 hectares, was registered as a national park in 1949 because of its many rare trees and protected botanical sites.

After the Nové Hrady estate was originally acquired by the French the Buquoy family, the valley and its surroundings became the subject of a passion for hunting, which its new owner abounded. In 1756, Count Jan Nepomuk Buquoy tasked the newly appointed gardener Ignaz Fnoik to rebuild the valley into a natural park in the spirit of aesthetic style - sentimentalism - which was modern at the time. In the course of the work, the role of the main initiator was gradually taken over by Countess Terezie, wife of Jan Nepomuk Buquoy.

Circular, 5 km long nature trail will lead you through the Tercina valley, which leads about a kilometer-marked tourist trail from Novohradske square. Originally landscaped park covers an area of about 140 ha. In the park you can admire many exotic trees, historical buildings and artificially created waterfall powered by a drive from the river Stropnice. Twelve modernly designed information panels will introduce you to the nature and history of Terčina Valley.
