I have been actively riding a mountain bike since 2019. From the very beginning, I quickly discovered that cycling asphalts would not be my hunting ground. It drew me to the woods and to various more technical sections or hills. I just wanted to see nice places. Unfortunately, getting to such locations costs something. In this case, a lot of energy and decent cycling equipment. For two years I ignored recommendations from acquaintances that the saddle is very important. My ass and hips started to take it away and I said enough. On a recommendation from a friend, I bought a saddle from Ergon, because they offer good quality and do not have exorbitant prices.
It didn't take long to change the saddle. Here is an example of an old "default" saddle. I'm glad I finally got rid of him .. 
The first field testing - 20 km route through the woods
The first day I used the bike to deal with nonsense around the city, so I drove about 15 km on bike paths. Saddle comfortable, no problem. So I'm planning with a girlfriend bike trip on the weekend (Pilsen). The route over 20 km, to the hills, downhill runs is not missing and there will be no shortage of more technical sections with high roots. I consider this a sufficient test. And how did it go?

The first third was the hardest. Only hills, terrain, roots, or hills with roots ... My Misha was really grateful to me .. We take a lunch break at the Krkavec lookout tower. Here I adjusted the saddle to a horizontal position, because it is already designed so that I do not have to tilt it forward. I wasn't used to it at the old saddle .. 
Lunch was followed by a convention. Here I came across the first problem. The saddle is slightly wider, so my thighs were rubbing a bit 
. However, I adjusted my driving speed to this fact so that I did not lose control of the fable.

I bought the Ergon SMC saddle (for men) for less than CZK 1.800, but the price is still rising. So if you want to buy it too, I recommend not hesitating for a long time.

A friend made a video of riding a hardtail in the woods and on trails (Youtube channel MOC RIDERS). Among other things, you can see in the video that he who can ride bought the same saddle. Plus, he's talking about it. However, I recommend watching the whole video for inspiration. 
Final evaluation of the Ergon SMC saddle
With the new saddle from Ergon, I drove a total of just over 50 km in various terrains, which included both classic bike paths and hills, terrain, compression and downhill. Here is my final evaluation.

- Slightly larger width, which makes a bit of a problem on larger descents (compression)
My girlfriend "didn't like" how much I enjoyed her new saddle and so she wanted to get something similar . Unfortunately, we did not get the female version. But on the recommendation we bought his similar "Woman" version from Specialized, which you can see here ..
