Another stop after wandering through Lower Austria was the Erlaufsee campsite, which is situated on the beautiful Lake Erlaufsee. The camp is also located a short distance from the famous pilgrimage site of Mariazell in Lower Austria. Here are observations from our visit, which lasted two days.
The camp is situated by a beautiful lake
The location of this campsite excited us again. It was located next to a forest near the beautiful Lake Erlaufsee, around which there are scattered hills that reach a height of 1000 to 1100 meters at sea. The lake itself is about 1,5 kilometers long and 450 meters wide. The average depth of the lake is 21,5 meters and pike, perch and trout live here. We were surrounded by healthy nature, which will always provide you with perfect relaxation and great opportunities for sports and hiking. 
Impressions from the camp
We arrived at the campsite around 10 am. We were lucky because the reception of the camp was open, so we immediately paid for everything and above all we received basic information about the camp and its surroundings. The gentleman at the reception was very helpful and spoke English, so everything went smoothly. Although the camp seemed a bit outdated at first glance, everything was fully functional, which only confirms the Austrian sense of order and cleanliness 
. I immediately appreciated that all the information about the operation of the camp was clearly described on posters at the reception. Part of the reception, which was a wooden hut, was a common room with two tables, several benches, a refrigerator, electric kettles, a memory game, and a board game similar to Man, Don't Be Angry. We really appreciated the room, because the end of August was incredibly cold, so before going to bed in the tent in the common room we warmed up quite a bit and had fun with the children's board game.

The bathroom was a little older
The bathroom was located in the middle of the camp. It consisted of one part, one for men, the other for ladies, and on the edge of the whole building were sinks for washing dishes. Everything was clean and fully functional, I was just surprised that the shower and even the sink was charged for hot water 
. You had to throw 50 cents into an outdated machine to have hot water for 10 minutes. Apart from this inconvenience, everything was otherwise fine. I also appreciated the two erak hammocks, which were hung on the trees and served as resting places. 
Accommodation in a camp Erlaufsee
In the camp you can to accommodate with your own tent, caravan, motorhome or campervan - van. It is not for nothing that this area is called campingplatz ..
An interesting cafe
Not far from the camp there is an interesting cafe, which is made from the carriage of an old Austrian train. You sit comfortably in the car and instead of a guide, a waiter comes and brings you a cup of coffee or a bottle of Cola. Good and quite interesting and attractive idea. 
Suitable camp for hiking and visiting Mariazell
The camp is otherwise a great place for hiking in the mountains. The surroundings of the camp were beautiful again. I especially recommend a visit to the nature park Ötscher-Tormäuer, which is one of the most beautiful in Austria 
. In the park you will find almost everything that an avid nature lover expects from Mother Nature, ie from unprecedented rock formations and massive mountain peaks, through deep gorges, narrow paths, small bridges over predatory rivers, mysterious caves to small and large waterfalls. The wild stream Ötscherbach has shaped the local landscape for centuries in its own way, so nowadays the place is now known as the Austrian Grand Canyon. 
. However, if you also like cultural monuments, take a trip to the nearby picturesque village of Mariazell, where there is a beautiful three-nave basilica, which has a dignified three towers from the Gothic and early Baroque periods. The tour of the church is definitely worth it, because inside you will find not only a breathtaking Baroque organ, but also a number of beautiful statues, including a love statue of the Romanesque Virgin Mary.
