Swimming in Germany - Aquaparks at the border

All articles_button

Do you like fun? Don't know what to do with your children during the winter or summer holidays? Go to a German Aquapark! Especially if you have a planned vacation near the border with our western neighbors, it is an ideal addition to leisure activities for which the children will definitely thank you. If you choose one of the lesser-known ones, you will certainly be pleasantly surprised by the service, cleanliness, offer of services but also a pleasant price. Which will be most appreciated by those who have visited the water world in Prague's Čestlice. Now I will introduce you to our favorite destinations, which are only a few kilometers beyond the borders and are easily accessible for those of you who live or are on holiday in the Ore Mountains.

Schoeneck - IFA Ferienhotel

This very pleasant small water park is located in the Vogland region, just behind the Klingenthal winter resort. The easiest way is through the border crossing Kraslice - Hraničná. Right at the first roundabout, take the third exit to Zwot and after a few kilometers you will reach a crossroads where the Schőneck signpost is already. Now it is only a few km up through the deep Ore Mountains forest to the next roundabout, from the second exit of which you descend to the covered parking lot. It is really big and comfortable and in the middle of the woods it looks oversized. But you will soon understand that there are reasons for this. It is the ridge of the Ore Mountains - Erzgebirge that is widely used in these places by cross-country skiers, there are marked Nordic walking trails, a rope center and other activities. Right in front of the IFA, the slopes of the local ski resort fall to the north.

But we come here for water pleasures. Walk around the reception and the restaurant to the Aquaworld Schoneck checkout as this small aquapark is called. Here you have the opportunity to choose 1,2,3, 4 hourly rate or buy sauna access.

Don't forget to prepare a 1 Euro coin for you, it is used to lock your clothes closet and it will fall back on you after bathing. The water park itself is interestingly designed as a side extension of the hotel. Its peculiarity is that it is two-storey - cascading. At the bottom right at the entrance you will find a children's paddling pool for toddlers. Right behind it is a large pool with waves, which is repeated at 30-minute intervals. This baten connects to the side cave corridor with massage jets and light effects.

If you climb the stairs above this pool, you will find another swimming area with an island and a cave and several bubbling springs. The surrounding environment is stylishly complemented by palm trees and tropical plants. Of course alive. I really like that at German water parks. Of course, the children enjoy the local toboggan the most, which from the upper pool directly to the lower, but also a longer and brisk and longer tube above the children's paddling pool. It is a great pity that a snack by the upper pool was canceled a few years ago. So remember that you must take all food and drink with you.

Geyer - Leisure pool Griefenteine

This complex of water entertainment is already much larger than the former. You can find it outside the town of Annaberg - Buchholz in Saxony, which you can reach via the Boží Dar border crossing. This is perhaps the only possible snag of the road, because in extreme winter conditions this section of the skin is passable. Chomutov or Prague visitors to Geyer prefer Mount St. Sebastian. Follow the high-quality German road over the small town of Geyer, where you can see the dome of the local bathing Mecca from a distance on a green meadow near the forest. The parking lot is huge, the tariff of 1 Euros per day is very favorable and the family entrance fee for 4 hours is approx. 26 Euros, which is often less than in Czech aquaparks. You can pick up your keys at reception and head to the locker room. The truth is that during the German public holidays there may be more people and you will have trouble finding a free deck chair. In the current period, however, there are just as many people and definitely less than in the popular Mariengerg. It is mainly visited by North Bohemians and is usually really crowded.

Geyer Water World has a pleasant airy architecture. The ceiling of the dome is lined with white wood and is high above you. Under it you will find a real paradise for all generations. Large swimming pool with waves, side channel leading to the outdoor pool, from which you can bounce calmly in the winter to run into the snow and other attractions. Of course, there is a children's pool and two hot tubs, which, however, are usually full, permanently occupied. A children's slide also provides entertainment, and a wild river and a long toboggan tube are available for older children and adults. The advantage of this aquapark is that it has its own restaurant, so you can control your hunger in a swimsuit overlooking the area, for example with a steak or salad or spaghetti or currywurst with french fries. The prices of these dishes are favorable - about 6 Euro. The advantage is that you record all the expenses on a chip at the key and you pay everything when you leave at the main cash desk of the complex. If you like sauna, you can "beep" the entrance to the sauna section on the chip for a small surcharge. Geyer is really beautiful and more and more Czechs that you will meet in the area are convinced of that. And if you have strength left after a few hours of wandering in the water, on the way back you can shop, for example, in a supermarket in Annaberg. www.freizeitbad-greifensteine.de
