Reviews of campsite Zvíkov Village - South Bohemia

All articles_button

Zvíkov Castle is at the confluence of the Vltava and Otava rivers and is undoubtedly one of our most photogenic monuments. And so, even within our South Bohemian trip, he could not miss the list of places we wanted to visit. In fact, the last time we were in the Orlická dam area was a long time ago, without children and under a tent. My memories of that time are connected with a kind of post-totalitarian camp near Červená nad Vltavou. That is why this year we wanted to experience something more pleasant with the children and stay for the planned three nights somewhere where it will be close to the water and monuments.

Road to the camp

This time we set off "easily", without a tent, because we have a stay with Orlík booked in the cottage of the Zvíkov Village camp. We arrive from Karlovy Vary, via Pilsen and Blatná wink. As we cross the bridge over the Otava, we suspect that the destination is approaching. Orientation is not difficult, just turn to Zvíkovské Podhradí, or simply follow the brown signposts to Zvíkov Castle.

Log cabin Zvíkov Village

Almost at the end of Zvíkovské Podhradie we descend to the left to the camp. But don't imagine a classic caravan park full of tents and caravans. It really looks like here in some scandinavian village. There are scattered wooden log cabins in the birch forest and a little further you will find other conveniences that convince us that we will probably like it here. We handle the necessary formalities with a nice lady at the reception and we set out to stay in a cottage.

Accommodation in a cottage

We chose a small "hobbit" house for 5 people to stay wink. The wooden cottage with a round roof still smells new. It can be seen that the whole area is new. Freshly sown grass is still sprouting in some places, or landscaping is underway. The cottages are scattered around a small natural swimming pool and a fine sand area, which serves as a beach and a children's play area. The house is simply furnished, four wooden beds, coffee table, drawers. There is no toilet or shower of this type, only a few two-seater cottages next to us are equipped with them Yes. Anyway, although the houses are definitely over 20, they are all full, so we are quite happy that we made a reservation.

Sanitary facilities and kitchenette

While the children are fooling around in the area in front of the cottages, we set out on a tour of the complex. The good news is that we have a short walk to the showers and washrooms cheeky. At first glance, they are clean, maintained and new. There is also a shared kitchen for cooking, which we will definitely use. After all, we are established orthodox campers, and even though we are going without a tent this year, we have things to cook in nature and food with us. There is a washer and dryer in the camp, the use of which I can imagine quite vividly at the frequency of soiling of our children's things.

Tents, caravans, log cabins

Near the building with showers and toilets we discover an area for tents. Part of the places for tents are located on the terraces under the trees, which you will definitely appreciate in the heat. Specifically, this place is more suitable for smaller tents than for the large family hangar, which we commonly use.
If you come with a larger tent, it is definitely better to stay at the top of the area. There is also an area for caravans and several large log cabins in these places. According to the price list, these are log cabins for 8-12 people, and although they are luxuriously equipped buildings at first sight, their rental is not expensive at full occupancy. In front of the log houses you will find a large playground with slides, swings and a stylized figure of a dragon. After all, it all looks like such a natural Viking style .. cool

Food and drink

Of course, there is also the possibility of refreshments in the camp. Not far from our cottage was a small snack, where we went mainly for the bordered Bernard wink. Next to the reception there is a restaurant where they make some goulash, soup, pizza and such classics as chicken strips, french fries, etc. It is good that you can pay by card everywhere. According to the information posted in the restaurant, you can also buy breakfast or dinner here. However, our favorite place to sit has become the stand located by the terrace above the river, from which there is a nice view of the bridge spanning the Otava.

Possibilities of trips around the camp

Although we had a car, many trips can be reached on foot. On Castle Zvíkov it is about a kilometer, in a few minutes walk to the brewery with a restaurant, which is adjacent to the camp site. In Zvíkovské podhradie, you can buy groceries, go for lunch and buy tickets for boat transport.
It is about 15 km to Písek, where in addition to the historic center, you can also shop well. It is similarly far to Milevsko or Blatná, where there is a famous water fortress. For those who prefer adrenaline to the sights, it is possible to try it on the Zvíkov Bridge in the summer months. Bungee-jumping. At Orlík nad Vltavou you will find the Zeměráj adventure park in which there is an archeological museum of the early Middle Ages, a wooden maze, a children's village, an interactive playroom and other attractions that will entertain children and adults alike. cool

Overall rating of the Zvíkov Village campsite

Compared to some campsites in the Czech Republic that we had the opportunity to visit, this area seems like a pleasant revelation. Everything is new, clean and carefully maintained heart. They organize various concerts and competitions here. At the maintained outdoor fireplaces you can sit in the evening with a guitar. For our family, I give a clean 10 out of 10 with the remark that we are definitely not here for the last time.

advantages:

  • cleanliness, modern equipment
  • good price / offer ratio
  • wi-fi throughout the complex
  • playground
  • view and location
  • swimming pool
  • fine sand beach
  • plenty of hot water
  • token-free showers

  • less shopping opportunities

We were there too and complete satisfaction for us. Both the complex and the staff and prices. Nice environment. Great satisfaction for us and we will definitely come there again because when we were there we didn't want much weather but the camp was beautiful. :-)
