Nature was very desirable in Carinthia in the sunny south of Austria. In the vicinity of the Alps you will find countless warm and crystal clear lakes for swimming. In addition, there is a cozy inn and restaurant. New to 2019 is "Great Carinthian Lake District“. The 340 kilometer cycle path is a horizontal eight and leads to spectacular vistas around ten different lakes or along the banks of the Gail and Drau rivers. This project was created as a joint initiative of five Carinthian destinations - Millstätter See, Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See, Wörthersee, Klopeiner See - Südkärnten and Nassfeld - Pressegger See - Lesachtal - Weißensee. The names suggest that in each of the five regions you will find mountains and lakes of all sizes and at different altitudes. Due to the shape of the horizontal figure eight, the cycling tours can be freely combined. You choose which lakes, towns and landmarks you can see, or whether you choose everything at once. The entire route measures 340 kilometers and allows for a relaxing holiday on bicycles for pleasure, nature lovers, romance and active athletes who like to swim in lakes of up to 28 degrees. In addition, the 50 rental “Kärnten rent-e-Bike” is on the route with a total of 1,000 bikes for rent, including e-bikes and appropriate charging stations. Simply rent a bike and return it to any other rental company.

Borderless tourism on the southern side of the Alps
The amazing combination of mountains and lakes promises active and intense experiences in the beautiful Carinthian countryside. Many enjoyable hiking trails encourage you to walk along beautiful alpine trails at different altitudes, which are also suitable for families with children and even for prams. You can choose from the numerous marked routes leading throughout Carinthia according to your taste, mood, difficulty and condition. The highest Carinthian peak is the Großglockner with 3798 meters.
