Carinthia has everything you need for a perfect active holiday. Lots of sunshine and mild climate, perfectly marked hiking trails and bike paths, warm lakes for swimming with clear water, quiet banks of rivers and mountains with beautiful views. Since 2019, the "Great Carinthian Lake Circuit" has been prepared for guests - the 340-kilometer cycling circuit is in the form of a horizontal figure eight and leads to wonderful vantage points around ten different lakes or along the banks of the Gail and Drau rivers. This project was created as a joint initiative of five Carinthian destinations - Millstatt See, Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See, Wörthersee, Klopeiner See - Südkärnten and the region Nassfeld - Pressegger See - Lesachtal - Weißensee. The names already suggest that in each of the five regions you will find mountains and lakes of all sizes and at different altitudes. Thanks to the shape in the form of a horizontal figure eight, cycling tours can be freely combined. You choose which lakes, towns and sights to see, or whether you decide on everything at once. The entire route measures 340 kilometers and allows for a relaxing cycling holiday for connoisseurs, nature lovers, romance and active athletes who like to swim in lakes with a temperature of up to 28 degrees. In addition, there are 50 "Kärnten rent-e-Bike" rentals on the route with a total of a thousand bikes for rent, including e-bikes and relevant charging stations. You can simply rent a bike and return it at any other rental shop.
Borderless tourism on the southern side of the Alps
The amazing combination of mountains and lakes promises active and intense experiences in the beautiful Carinthian countryside. Many indulgent hiking trails encourage you to walk along beautiful alpine trails at different altitudes, which are also suitable for families with children and even for prams. You can choose from the numerous marked routes leading throughout Carinthia according to your taste, mood, difficulty and condition. Austria's highest peak is the Großglockner with 3.798 meters. The long-distance Carinthian hiking trail Alpe-Adria-Trail begins here, which leads in 43 stages with a total length of over 750 kilometers from Carinthia via Slovenia to the Adriatic in Italy. The 21 Carinthian stages of the Alpe-Adria-Trail from the foot of the Großglockner, along glaciers, rivers and warm lakes, offer you a unique experience on the southern side of the Austrian Alps.

Everyone will find their favorite place here - either by the lake, at the foot of the Alps, on the beautiful banks of the river, by the farm, or in one of the nudist camps in southern Carinthia's Südkärnten, by the lakes Millstätter See and Keutschacher See.
In addition, many resorts have alternative accommodation options, such as comfortable apartments, fully equipped caravans and practical mobile homes.
