Camping Strehla - camping at the swimming pool

Another campsite on my bike tour around the river Elbe was the Saxon campsite at the Nixenbad Strehla public swimming pool. This campsite provides accommodation in the form of campsites for your own tents, caravans and mobile homes, ideal for spring and summer. Camping Strehla is located in Saxony, Germany, directly on the River Elbe. A big bonus of this camp is its own pool and other water attractions associated with the pool - swimming pool.

Where the camp is located + map

The camp is part of a smaller but cozy public swimming pool, which is situated behind the town of Strehla, which can be found on the Elbe cycle path. The exact address of the campsite is Torgauer Straße. The reception of the swimming pool and the camp is open every day from 10 am to 20 pm. wink

First impressions of the camp

I knew in advance that this was a camp, which is part of the swimming pool. I like this type of camping because they are affordable and more in the price of the camp is the possibility to swim in the pool cheeky. Both were confirmed at the Nixenbad Strehla campsite, so I was completely satisfied with my entire stay for one night.

Camp Equipment

The overall equipment of the camp was neither modern nor luxurious, but everything was clean and everything worked Yes. There were bathrooms, a small kitchen, plenty of benches and tables outside to sit. The camp is not suitable for longer stays, but it is absolutely ideal for one or two nights. For cyclists (or caravans) who go on a long trek / trip, it is therefore satisfactory and sufficient. I see the added value in the use of the swimming pool, which every cyclist will appreciate after a long day of cycling. The muscles in the legs get great care. Moreover, it is not for some time to dive into the water and rest and relax for some time. Even though it was a small city swimming pool, it was great.

Equipment for motor homes and trailers

There is one chemical sink. Overall, however, the camp is more prepared for cyclists or guests who arrive by car.

Places for own tents

There are about 50 places for tents in the whole area. There are 4 double rooms and 2 single rooms.

Swimming pool in the camp

The camp has a swimming pool, which has a swimming pool for swimmers cool. This pool has a total of five swimming lanes. There is also a brisk blue water slide that opens into the pool with numerous water attractions. There is also a swimming pool for small children. There is a pink elephant slide in the pool for small children. There are also grassy areas around the pool.

Visit to the town of Strehla

Strehla is a small Saxon town in the district of Meißen, in Czech Meissen. It is located on the river Elbe, north of the larger city of Riesa. Strehla sounds a bit Czech, and indeed, this non-German name of the place means an arrow in the Lusatian-Serbian language. One such name can make you look for history, so know that the Lusatian Serbs are truly a Slavic nation that inhabits Lusatia, a historic country bordering the northern border of Bohemia. Around 60 people currently report to the Lusatian Serbs. The Lusatian Serbs are also the last descendants of a once very wide Slavic settlement stretching along the Elbe to the Baltic Sea. The Lusatian Serbs are very close to the Czechs in terms of history, culture and language. Lusatian Serbian is the second closest Czech language after Slovak, so in Strehle you can feel almost like in the Czech Republic. Otherwise, the city itself is nothing extra interesting. Only a small square with a nice historic town hall is worth attention. There are small supermarkets in the city where you can buy groceries ... Yes

In conclusion, I would like to add that the camp was very nice staff, everything was clean, the whole building maintained, very quiet at night, really ideal for cyclists, caravans, carpenters and families with children. Yes

Advantages of camping

  • unlimited access to swimming pools
  • small kitchen
  • clean camp
  • very nice children's corner

Disadvantages of camping

  • a bit outdated equipment
  • the town of Strehla is nothing special
  • at the reception the lady spoke only German
