The seaside area, which we now call the Bohemian Switzerland, gave many millions of years a splendid, uniquely sandstone rock that created truly natural forms.
The most infamous of them is without a doubt Pravčice Gate, a quartz sandstone from the Cretaceous era, whose beauty is trying to capture with its brush painters for centuries. Not only is the Pravčická gate a symbol of the National Park České Švýcarsko, but also the largest sandstone rock gate in Europe. There is also a small mansion to the Pravčická Gate Falcon's nest, where you can have a refreshment in the stylish restaurant.
Other picturesque sights can be found in the village Hřensko, the so-called entrance gate of the National Park České Švýcarsko. Hřensko, as the lowest situated village in the Czech Republic, boasts huge the canyon of the Elbe, which you can see from 130 meters high, into the rock carved, Belvedere observation platforms. On Hřensko and its adjacent surroundings you can look at 40 meters high Genoa lookout tower. As a large part of the village is situated in the hight of the high rock walls, there are many mountain plants that are very rare for such a low-lying area. Do not forget to visit i gorges in Hrensko, where you can ride on boats.
The second imaginary gate of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park is a picturesque town Chribska, boasting period, fairly fairy, timbered houses with slate roofs, dormers or decorative shields. The soul of the Chribes represents a church dedicated to St. George, the walls of which feature the tombstones of important personalities of the past. It is obvious here the oldest glassworks in Europe which started operating in 1414, but unfortunately ended its activity in 2007. The fact that nature is a mighty witch will convince you a tremendous amount of blooming orchids, the so-called orchids, which the Chribi water-covered meadows are touting. To reach the beauty of Chribska surroundings as far as possible, head out to the top of Justice, Chřibský vrch or Malý Stožec.
It is certainly worth a visit Tisa and its adjacent rocky areas Tisá or surroundings Table Mountains Děčínský Sněžník. Rock pillars, overhangs or caves of various shapes are the main attractions of the Press Wall. The virgin nature around Děčínský sněžník, the highest table mountains of the Turquoise sandstone mountains, can be seen from 33 meters high stone lookout tower, one of the oldest lookouts in our country at all. If the weather is right for your excursion, you will see not only the surroundings of Labské Pískovce, but also the distant Ještěd.
