Go to America!

If you are planning an active holiday in the west of Bohemia - specifically to the Karlovy Vary region and you want to have quality facilities for your trips, I recommend the campsite america. It is located approximately two kilometers from Františkovy Lázně and 12 kilometers from Cheb near the pond of the same name Amerika. It is therefore an ideal starting point for trips to the world-famous West Bohemian spa or to the beautiful historic town of Cheb. But in the vicinity of this camp there are many other attractions.

There is a dense network of bike paths around, so even bikers will find a lot of inspiration and ideas for trips.
Nearby, for example, it is beautifully renovated Seeberg Castle, in Skalná near Cheb it is again Vildštejn castle. In the nearby village of Žírovice you will find a unique attraction, which is the so-called butterfly house. In it, you can watch with your own eyes in the enclosed space of the greenhouse, many species of tropical butterflies and watch their life and stages of development. And what can be done if the monuments do not "take" you? I do not recommend swimming in the America pond, because it is polluted with cyanobacteria, but you can rent a boat at a nearby rental shop. You can then get close to the so-called bird island, which is an important reserve of protected bird species. Attention - it is not allowed to go ashore on this reservation. In case of bad weather, I recommend visiting the nearby Aquaforum water park in nearby Františkovy Lázně, where you will find pleasantly indoor swimming pools, and in the outdoor areas there are several slides, swimming pools and a water slide.
The America camp itself gives a very modern impression, it was built only recently and some parts literally smell new. It is operated by the City of Františkovy Lázně and you can stay in your own own tent, caravan, or in three species of cottages.
The largest, closest to the main gate have a terrace and private bathroom, the smaller ones are without a terrace, and the cheapest mini-cabins are designed for undemanding sads. They are small "smurf" cottages with two bunk beds between which is a narrow alley. You will not find any other accessories (except the socket and light) in them. However, if, for example, you hide your bikes in front of the cottage or arrange storage at the reception, you can safely fit here.
There is also a pleasant restaurant near the reception, where you can find several hot and cold meals. Directly with the reception there is also a small grocery store and other necessities for the visitors of the camp.
The campsite staff were very helpful and friendly at the time of our visit and it was no problem to arrange for the rental of the adjacent tennis courts that are part of the complex. There are also several fireplaces in the camp, but the classic problem is to get them into the wood.
If you are traveling with small children, you will surely enjoy them by visiting the America's Zoo Park, which is close to the campsite. There are several nature trails in it and they will especially please the animals that keep here in the paddocks. For example, they can see llamas, raccoons, snowy owls, goats and other pets. Overall, this is camping Amerika a modern and pleasant base for active tourists who want to go out for excursions in this westernmost tip of the Czech Republic. Thanks to the proximity of the border it is an excellent starting point for excursions to our western neighbors.
