The smallest member of our family of four also received his bed today. I have a VW Caddy as a company car and I do not intend to make any major changes to it. I was inspired by the internet and the whole production took me two hours and it cost me 33.- €. Getting in and out of the car is a matter of a few minutes. This bed is so far the fastest and cheapest bed I have made in the car as such. If I do the next one, she'll probably be done before I figure it out. :-)
Material and price of bed production
I used 10 mm thick poplar wood plywood. The fortress is similar to beech, but the weight of the whole plate is seven kilos lower. The board measures 250x125 and costs € 28.-. I used a 90 cm piano hinge and one costs 1,3.- € plus 12 mm self-cutting. 
Another process of making a bed
The inner dimension of the trunk in Caddyn is 93x113cm, as I have 180 cm, so it is folded twice to 186 cm, which is enough without having to fold the front seats. The cut board is connected by a piano hinge from the top, so when unfolded, the boards cross each other and are stronger. All you have to do is move the front seats forward and the 190 cm plate will fit. 
Cut legs from the entire hob will serve as legs for the bed, the height of the folded rear seats is 29,5 cm and the cut piece from the hob measures 60x120 cm, so it will work out. When I rest my feet on the side walls of the car and push down with a plastic trunk tray, it doesn't even move. 
. I also fastened my legs with piano hinges so that the whole bed could be removed and easily stored. The whole thing will take 90x113x3 cm when folded.
The top plate, which folds forward, must be divided as much as 90 cm of the plate due to the height of the ceiling. I split it in half and it's fine. Although it later occurred to me that if I divided it into one third and left the longer part in the front seats, maybe it would be stronger. Only think about it if you do. I put a hinge on the bottom of this split part for better handling when tilting.
At the end of the front seats, there is a board in the air, so I drilled holes and threaded a climbing rope, made a lump, and at the other end fitted hooks made of rubber spiders, which I catch on the hangers on the center pillars. A belt holder could also be used, but when there is a hanger there is even easier. 
At the back door, I screwed the board off the bottom of the cut board to strengthen it. There is now 20 mm plywood and our two fly weights will keep it cool.
After unfolding, all you have to do is place two self-inflating sleeping bags from Tesco, which I have had for a few years and are still in use, on the board. They are exactly there in landscape. I plan to buy harder foam or thicker mirelon, which will be more comfortable than self-inflating mats. A huge advantage is that there is a large storage space under the bed, where boxes with anything can fit in comfort. 
Our "Mac" (Mercedes - campervan) will certainly not be replaced, because we are already spoiled and we are used to the comfort of a Mercedes. However, for short two-day trips or for the weekend, it is definitely an interesting alternative, especially when the Caddy has half the consumption.
