If you move near Leipzig in Saxony this year, you may find it useful to review this fairly large German campsite. The Leipzig Auensee campsite is about seven kilometers from the center of the Saxon cultural capital. The added value is that next to the camp is a large natural lake, which is called Auensee.
The whole area is surrounded by trees
Immediately after arriving at the camp, I was fascinated by the fact that the entire camp area is densely lined with mature trees, so the whole camp is thus naturally and safely demarcated. If you come here, you will definitely be thrilled by the large area of the camp. There is really plenty of space not only for camping, but also for camping larger caravans and motor homes. Most of the surface consists of well-maintained grass.
Other accommodation options in the camp
- bungalows for 3 people
- cottages for 2 people
- mobile homes for 4 people
Obsolete but still functional equipment
Even though the camp looks a bit outdated (especially the social and reception areas of the camp are already at their zenith), the equipment of the camp is still at a good level. The numbers alone indicate that you will be satisfied here for a few days. There are 164 paved places for motor vehicles and caravans. The toilets have a large number of washing booths, I counted 59, you can use 26 showers, 39 toilets and 72 washbasins. Of course there are two washing machines, two clothes dryers and a smaller kitchen. In the camp area there is also the possibility of lighting a fire ..
Table football as the icing on the cake
For those who do not have a caravan or tent, it is here available 58 mobile homes, it should be noted that they are already quite old. For those who are used to maximum comfort, I will be disappointed, because there is no restaurant or small grocery store or kiosk in the place of the camp. However, the nearest shop is only one kilometer away from the camp. For sports enthusiasts there is a playground, football field, tennis and volleyball. I also noticed the stone tables on table tennis and one table football. I always like table football, so a very good game for me to relax. But if it's raining, you're out of luck. The possibility of swimming and sunbathing is about a hundred meters from the camp, which is also a short walk.
Tour of Leipzig
The most attractive tip for a trip here is undoubtedly the beautiful historic city of Leipzig. You'll be there by bike in a few minutes. The Saxon cultural paradise has a wide range of museums and galleries, so you will definitely not be bored. Everyone can really choose here. For example, you can pay tribute to the famous Bach Museum or the remarkable Museum of Contemporary History Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig, which maps gloomy life in the Soviet occupation zone and the German Democratic Republic. In addition to local museums, you can visit a large number of Catholic and Lutheran cathedrals in Leipzig. If you get hungry after wandering Leipzig, you can dine in the healthy vegetarian restaurant Green Soul, located at Johannisallee 7. At the end of the tour of Leipzig, you can also see the impressive statue of John Sebestain Bach, located at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, where Bach has long been the director of the temple choir.
A few concluding remarks
The camp is suitable for one or two nights. I would definitely not recommend this campsite for longer stays or weekly recreation. For its time, it lacks the standard comfort that is quite common in other camps today. However, this campsite is quite sufficient for cyclists.
