My experience with camping in Sázava

All articles_button

This year we managed to visit another Czech camp - a car camp by the river Sázava. Camp Sázava can be found in the village of the same name on Sázava Island, which is situated by the river Sázava. The camp is located in the picturesque surroundings of Central Posázaví and is an ideal place especially for paddlers who go down the river Sázava.

First impressions of the camp

We arrived at the camp by bike, because we wanted to drive around Sázava, which has a lot to offer for cyclists. Although the camp is designed primarily for paddlers, cyclists will also find good facilities heresmiley. At the outset, I must praise that the reception of the camp is open all day, or from 8 am to 22 pm, so you do not have to stress that if you come to the camp a little later, you will not find anyone responsible for accommodation there.

Description of the campsite from my point of view

The camp offers in addition to places for caravans and carpenters, also five apartments, 6 mobile homes and 25 hotel rooms. However, we were most interested tents sites. There are quite a lot of places for tents, the official website talks about 120 places. I appreciate a lot of lawns, so your tent will build well here. The grass was cut, so good for me.

Weaknesses of the camp

The toilets and showers were quite fine, but I would especially expect toilets for such a large camp just more. Everything everywhere 3 toilets for ladies, 2 for men. There are still Toi toilets, but they are located at the end of the camp, which I understand due to the exclusive odors from these facilities, but it's not just a happy solution. In addition, toilets are toilets only for brave individuals. Well, hygiene is a weak point of our campsites. Sadness is also sad, but it also speaks to the behavior of all of us, which is simply reckless. The party after 22 pm is simply not kept and no one solves it, which is always sad.

Sports offer camping

Since we don't have children, I leave the evaluation of the campsite offer for children to more professionals, but the children are really excited here. It is available for adults canoe and raft rental. Renting one canoe for two people here costs 420 crowns per day, and 990 crowns for five days. A raft for five people then costs 975 crowns per day. You can also rent paddleboards at the campsite. There is also a children's playground with a cable car, a giant trampoline and two rowboats. Adults will appreciate the football, soccer and volleyball courts. For those who do not want too much exercise, then I recommend Russian skittles or an outdoor table for ping pong.

Food and snacks

There is a pretty and stylish restaurant in the camp (Sázavská taverna), but its service was not entirely helpful. The food was rather average and cooked from semi-finished products, so I recommend going to a restaurant in town or cooking your own food. However, you can go for a drink here, the menu is decent and the seating is really nice, because you can look at the open fireplace inside the restaurant.

Surroundings camp

The highest added value of the whole camp is such beautiful nature and the immediate vicinity of the picturesque river Sázava. I most appreciated the proximity of some monuments, especially the beautiful Sázava Monastery, which I definitely recommend visiting. During the tour you will look into the bowels of the monastery church or an interesting exhibition on the history of the monastery, which was founded in the 11th century.

Offer for cyclists

The long-term Posázavská cycle route number 19 and cycle route number 4156 pass through the village of Sázava. Personally, I liked the huge Gothic castle Český Šternberk the most.

Advantages of camping

  • enough grassy areas for camping
  • beautiful nature around the camp
  • very close to the camp is the river Sázava
  • canoe and raft rental
  • large offer of sports activities
  • lots of attractions for children

Disadvantages of camping

  • few toilets and showers
  • the toilets were unclean
  • smelly toi toilets
  • noise after 22 o'clock
