There is no doubt that we should give more support to domestic tourism. Especially when he suffered an almost fatal pandemic slap this year. I decided to write to you about a place in the Ore Mountains, which is not one of the "proven" centers of the Krkonoše type. Nevertheless, it has a lot to offer and is close to my heart in the Ore Mountains. The secret tip is Nové Hamry. A village with less than 350 inhabitants, just above Nejdek in the Karlovy Vary region. It lies at a height of approx. 700 m above sea level, hidden in the valley of the river Rolava. As children of compulsory school, we used to travel here by train for ski training during the previous regime, but over time I began to discover other beauties of this area. So if you decide to spend your summer vacation, believe that you will definitely not be bored and in addition you will enjoy all the experiences without the crowds of tourists.
Walking trips - The town is located between the forested peaks of the Krušné hory ridge, so know that almost every trip will start with a climb. The returns from the tours that lead down the hill will be all the more pleasant. In addition to well-known destinations, there are also a number of excursion secrets that only we regional patriots know about. One of them is, for example, Miluščina waterfall, which you will find just before the last right
bend by the road to Horní Blatná on Bílé potoke. The word waterfall is a bit exaggerated, it is more like a 2 m cascade with a pond, but you are almost guaranteed to be alone here. For those who do not dare to go on long trips, there is an opportunity to climb the steep slope of the former ski slope to the top of Křovitá stráň. Here, from a height of 828 m above sea level, you will have a view of the panorama of the Krušné hory ridge and Nové Hamry with a church and houses scattered along the slopes. Another interesting trip is a meadow on the banks of the Rolava, just above Nové Hamry. In summer, there are often scout camps here, but if you are lucky and there are no tents, you can roast burritos and see the facilities in the form of log cabins and comfortable kadibudek. One of the most grateful trips, however, is the ascent to the 977 m high Tisovský Vrch with the Pajndl lookout tower. It is open all year round and provides a beautiful circular view of the entire western Ore Mountains. Spruces and Doupovské mountains.
Cycling - An inexhaustible number of roads run directly from the center of the village before hotel Seifert. One of the most popular is a relaxing trip to the defunct village of Jelení, where you can sit in a pleasant pub or go for approx. 2 km further and taken over neighboring Germany and taste the local beer and visit for example the Carlsfeld dam. A popular route is the already mentioned road to Horní Blatná, which will take you to the mining region, which has been included in UNESCO since 2019.
Adrenaline fun - Directly in the cadastre of the village you will find a very interesting secured route - via ferrata. It is named after the hotel behind which it is located. You don't have to worry that you won't be able to climb rocks with a safety steel rope. Most of the trips are not demanding and they rent the necessary equipment for 50 CZK at the hotel. They offer other climbing options, this time with the necessary climbing equipment and their own rope Jindřišské rocks, also called Strašidla, which you will find between Horní Blatná and Potůčky.
Accommodations - The most popular are hotels Seifert and mountain hotel Malamut, located in the center of the village. The first attracts, to the already mentioned ferrata, the second to the pool and good cuisine. On our returns from cycling trips, we will always appreciate the tasty cabbage or smoked lentils, which will always reliably warm us before the final descent home. In addition, there are several smaller guest houses and mountain huts in Hamry, especially towards the church and Tisovský vrch. The one who arrives caravan or with your own tent you can camp in a simple, campsite by the river behind the Hotel Seifert. right by the effervescent river.
Shopping - It's a little worse here. There is only one Asian convenience store in the village, where they have everything they need, but it is not for big purchases. If you need to buy something cheaper, drive approx. 6 km to Nejdek, where Albert and Penny Market are.
All in all, Nové Hamry is an honest Krušné hory resort with a peaceful atmosphere, and it has a lot to offer, especially in summer and winter.
