Rating of Campingplatz Coswig by the river Elbe

In my next post, I will focus on the German Coswig campsite, which I visited on the way back by bike around the river Elbe. Camping Coswig is again located a short distance from the river Elbe, so the cyclist does not have to look for his night at the end of the day. The camp is also located on a small lake called Kötitz. In a way, it is an idyllic location of the camp, because on one side you have the picturesque Elbe, on the other a romantic lake, which is used as a swimming pool in the summer months.

Camp Coswig excited me at first sight, because it was quite abundantly lined with trees, which I always like. Such trees are very important in campsites. You can stretch a clothesline between the trees, there is a beneficial shade under the treetops and, last but not least, you can listen to the sounds of birds near the trees, which always calm me down. Quite often, however, the sound of birds interrupts the sounds of tourists, because it is a very busy camp, so count on a large number of visitors.

The camp has plenty of grassy areas. Covering an area of 14 square meters there are a total of one hundred places to camp. If you would like to drive from the camp to other villages or Dresden, the bus stop is one kilometer away from the camp.

I was satisfied with the equipment of the camp. Sometimes I look at the ratings given by the ECC, and in this case the association gave the Coswig campsite a total of "three tents", which is good equipment. For interest, I present an explanation for the evaluation of the ECC association. Icon one tent means simple equipment, symbol two tents sufficient equipment, icon three tents good equipment, icon four tents very good equipment, symbol five tents top equipment. Furthermore, I would rate this camp as a mark of two minus, which would roughly correspond to the rating of the ECC.

For those who visit the Coswig campsite by car or caravan, so know that the whole area has 65 paved places for motor caravans. There are also 65 electrical connections for caravans and 65 sinks for chemical toilets.

In terms of hygiene, the camp stands well, as there are four washbasins, sixteen washbasins, six showers and eleven toilets. You can use three washing machines and three clothes dryers to wash and dry your laundry. There is also a modest kitchen in the camp. In addition, you can light a fire here and bake bacon with bacon.

As far as refreshments are concerned, the Coswig campsite is doing well, as there is a restaurant with a spacious veranda at the campsite reception, where you can sit in peace. There is also a children’s playground, which boasts a small sandpit and climbing frames. You can bathe and catch bronze right next to the campsite. The Elbe cycle path is situated right next to the campsite.

Finally, a tip for a trip. I definitely recommend cycling to Dresden, Saxony, where you can see a large number of historical attractions and world-famous galleries and museums. For example, I visit the city museum, where I remembered my childhood, which I spent under communist rule, which was also the case in the German Democratic Republic. The museum has its home in the representative Landhaus building, which was built at the end of the 18th century. It is a remarkable building that will not dazzle you, but on closer inspection you will find that the building is a mixture of several architectural styles. In the building you will get to know the elements of late baroque, classicism and delicately decorated rococo. The museum exhibition has four halls, where you can see over a thousand remarkable exhibits. I was most interested in the great state emblem of the German Democratic Republic, which I knew in my childhood, because he was on the chest of many athletes from the former GDR. However, this is not the only work that will remind you of the gloomy times of the communist era of our East German neighbors, the City Museum in Dresden is very well designed and as a whole certainly interesting.
