Another campsite I visited on a cycling tour of Austria was Campingplatz Gößl, located at the beautiful Grundlsee lake in the Austrian state of Styria. The first impressions after arriving at this campsite were beautiful, because the area of the whole campsite is surrounded by steep rock walls, so you feel like you are in a rock town. In addition, Campingplatz Gößl is a short walk from the vast Grundlsee lake, so the surroundings of the campsite are like a fairy tale. The beautiful wooden house of Alpine style, where there is a friendly reception, in which you can also speak English, corresponded to the fairy-tale description.
Camping description Gößl
Right when building the tent, I again appreciated that the camp has a quality grass surface. For motorists, however, I must unfortunately state that there are no paved places for motor caravans and cars in the entire campsite. Caravans and cars park on grassy areas, which is not a very ideal solution in the rain, because the camp immediately becomes one big mudflat.
With a large number of visitors, the camp is cramped. There is relatively enough space in the whole camp area for caravans, cars and cyclists with tents, however, with a large number of visitors, which I experienced during my visit, the camp looks quite cramped and there is literally head to head, so you have no privacy here.
The overall equipment of the camp
I was in the camp for a total of three days and I used it as an exit camp in exploring the Salt Chamber. So I only spent mornings and evenings in the camp, so I used the camp facilities to shower and prepare breakfast and dinner. It is completely comfortable to shower here, because the sanitary facilities are modern and fully functional, however, there is only one for the entire campsite, which seems quite a bit to me. There is also no kitchen for making food or coffee or tea, which is also a minus of this campsite. However, you can use 16 washbasins, 16 washbasins, 8 showers and 16 toilets in one sanitary facility. There is also a washer and dryer. There are then 2 elongated sinks and 4 smaller sinks for washing dishes, which are located outside the sanitary building. However, it is forbidden to start a fire in the whole camp.
How to spend free time in the camp
About 150 meters from the camp is located crystal clear Lake Grundlseewhere there is a possibility of swimming. However, the lake is quite cold, however, the entire area of the lake is about five square kilometers, so is the largest lake in Styria. If you don't like swimming in not too warm water, you can take a cruise on the lake, which runs here from May to the end of October. Alternatively, you can run around the lake, ride a bike or take a walk.
Rates camp
For one person per day, including the tent, you pay up to 10 euros in the Gößl campsite, which is a very decent and good price for the beautiful location of the Salt Chamber. But the view and the fresh air are priceless. Either way, a visit to this campsite is worth ..
