This year I bought a Husky Flast 3,5 self-inflating mat for my wife, because her old self-inflating mat from the Crossroad company has reached the end of its service life. We enjoyed the self-inflating mats quite a lot this year, as my wife and I visited a number of campsites throughout Europe throughout the summer. Here are her and my observations with the use of this practical product, which is now our indispensable helper for camping in a tent or in the open air.
Basic description of the mat
First a few words about the product itself, which I bought at the end of this spring via the Internet. The Husky Flast 3,5 mat is very light and quite durable. The 3,5 cm insulation layer provides really excellent sleeping comfort . Her previous mat was 2,5 thick and took her on a bike. This year, however, we traveled more by car, so I chose a slightly higher thickness for it, because we do not have to deal so much with the weight and overall dimensions of the mat in the car. For cycling, we would again choose a lower thickness, but when traveling by car it was a good choice, in addition, the woman could enjoy a more comfortable sleep. Otherwise, the Husky Flast 3,5 mat weighs 990 grams and is made of 60D Polyester Honey Comb Ripstop material. The overall dimensions of the product are 180 × 58 × 3,5 centimeters, while the dimensions of the packed mat are 28 × 20 centimeters. The mat also included a practical gray cover. The price of the mat is now around 750 crowns on the Internet, but originally cost around 1390 crowns.
Optimal ratio between comfort and dimensions
For my wife, the Husky Flast 3,5 is the optimal ratio between sufficient comfort and weight, including dimensions. The mat is comfortable enough and can still be packed in a large backpack . If we have anything to complain about on the mat, then it's just that it's slipping a little. Also, the light green color is prone to soiling, so next time we would probably buy darker colors, even if the woman likes the light color more for a change. Overall, however, the product can be recommended. Since I have always prepared the mat for my wife, I still have to state that the mat must be inflated with my mouth, because it will not inflate enough on its own. But this is only a minimal disadvantage of the whole otherwise quality product.
The benefits of a mat
- provides an insulating layer of 3,5 cm for comfortable sleep
- foldable
- quality material
- quick unpacking and packing
Disadvantages of mats
- too light color
- it must be blown through the mouth
