About the church of St. Rozália - Excursions and accommodation in the vicinity

The chapel, the church of St. Rose is located in the village of Borovany, approximately 3 km from the village of Nepomuk. The chapel was built at the beginning of the 18th century as thanks for saving the inhabitants from a plague epidemic. It is a small, baroque building with an oval floor plan and a bell-shaped roof. At the top of the roof is a metal cross. In the main altar there is a statue of St. Rosalie, patroness against infections and pestilence.

Beckov Castle

Beckov Castle was one of the oldest Hungarian castles. It was founded in the 12th century as a royal castle that protected the western border of Hungary. At the beginning of the 14th century, the castle was held by the Hungarian great Matúš Čák Trenčianský, who structurally modified the castle. At the end of the same century, Ctibor from Stibořice owned the castle and he made the castle the center of his extensive estate in western Slovakia.

Trenčín Castle

The town of Trenčín, on the banks of the Váh River, is one of the oldest settlements in Central Europe. Castle in Holíč

The castle in Holíč has a long and famous history. Already in the 12th century, a wooden castle stood here, which guarded the western border of the Hungarian kingdom. Later, a Gothic water castle was built in its place, which was rebuilt into a Renaissance anti-Turkish fortress. In 1736, Emperor František Lorraine, husband of Empress Maria Theresa, bought the Hólič manor.

Dolná Krupá Castle

Just 10 km north of Trnava in the village of Dolné Krupé stands a nice castle. The castle was built at the end of the 18th century by Count Josef Brunswick, and this castle is one of the most beautiful examples of rural classicist architecture in Slovakia.

Red Stone Castle

Červený Kameň Castle is one of the most famous and most visited castles in Slovakia. Castle in Telč

The castle in Telč is a Renaissance complex of buildings built on the foundations of a Gothic castle. Rich interiors are installed in the castle buildings. In the Golden Hall, a unique gilded coffered ceiling with carved reliefs in its center. The walls of this hall are then decorated with portraits of noble ancestors. The Blue Hall also has a remarkable coffered ceiling.

Roštejn Castle

The Gothic castle Roštejn was built on a rocky promontory in the Jihlava hills in the first half of the 14th century by the lords of Hradec. The dominant feature of the castle is a 48 m high tower with an unusual heptagonal shape, which is accessible to the public. From the castle tower, there is a nice view of the wooded Jihlavská vrchy, and with good visibility you can see as far as the Alps.

Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou Castle

A water fortress stood in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou as early as the 15th century, which the Meziříč family from Lomnica had rebuilt into a Renaissance castle. After Bílá hora, the Questenberk family acquired the castle, and during the height of the Baroque, the well-traveled and educated Count Jan Adam of Questenberk had it rebuilt into a magnificent Baroque residence, which also included the Baroque Church of St. Markets.

Castle in Náměšt nad Oslavou

In the 13th century, lords from Lomnica built a Gothic castle on a promontory above the river Oslava. In the second half of the 16th century, the Moravian lords from Žerotín rebuilt the castle into a magnificent Renaissance castle, which has been preserved almost unchanged to this day.
