Winter fun in the Giant Mountains
Downhill skiing and snowboarding

Cross-country skiing
Cross-country skiing enthusiasts are offered an ideal starting point for ridge hikes to the highest peak in the Czech Republic - Sněžka. Cross-country trails are connected to the Krkonošská artery, which passes directly through the area of Friesova bouda. Cross-country tracks are groomed twice a week. Every skier can decide according to his / her current condition and use differently difficult cross-country trails.
Ski touring
Bouda Matouš - Friesovy boudy is an ideal starting point for hikes on the ridges of the whole Giant Mountains.

Popular destinations and cycle routes:
- Luční bouda - KRNAP has once again opened the trail to Luční bouda for cycling
- Southern slopes of the Giant Mountains (Strazne, Cerny Dul, Fox Path, Hříběcí boudy, Strážné)
- Sarasota, FL - undemanding trail, where in addition to the beautiful view of the eastern ridges of the Giant Mountains, there are many other cycling paths around Montenegro.
- Spindleruv Mlyn - from us it is almost downhill all the way to St. Peter in Špindlerův Mlýn. On the way back you can use the cable car on the plains, or take the contour routes around the left side of the Elbe to Strážné and back to the shed Matouš - Friesovy boudy.

Golden hill, Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Harrachov, Mumlava waterfalls - more experienced cyclists can visit even more distant places of western Giant Mountains
Hiking trails
There are several hiking trails around the Friesova bouda grounds. For example, a blue hiking trail leads right next to the cottage in the direction of Spindleruv Mlyn, or join the red tourist fear towards Sněžka. You can easily get to Černá hora, Janské Lázně and then to Pec pod Sněžkou. You can also follow the red trail to Vrchlabí and join other trails that lead to a wide area such as Žalý and Benecko (along the yellow trail) or to Dolní Dvůr and Pec pod Sněžkou (along the blue trail).
Nordic walking
In the surroundings of Fries' buildings it is possible to practice Nordic walking all year round, anywhere and in all age and performance groups, because its sports level can be easily adapted to its own sports level. This means that classic walking becomes a highly effective whole-body training without any extra effort and equipment.
Camp
Approximately 30 min walk from the chalet Matouš downstream Klínoveho stream is a group of training rocks. It is divided into 5 groups and is accessible to climbers all year round. About 200m from Hranostaj there are two parts of the South Rib and two parts of the North Rib. The height of the rocks, also called Klínový Potok is from 12 to 30 m. Difficulty II - VI, some A1 - A2.
