Traveling in Macedonia - towards the Armenistis camp in Halkidiki

All articles_button

If you go to Greece with a caravan or a passenger car on your own axis, your destination will probably be the Halkidiki peninsula. Quite possibly because it is the closest from the Czech Republic, but certainly also because it has a lot to offer. And for lovers of camping, it is a paradise. However, the camp can also be accommodated in equipped mobile homes, so it is not necessary to come only with your own mobile home.

The best campsite in Halkidiki?

Because we go to Greece on our own axis regularly and for a long time, we can compare the individual locations and the facilities of the campsites quite reliably wink. Especially Chalkidiki and its middle promontory called Sithonia is our promised land. And although we have been accommodated several times at the Melissi campsite in Sykia bay, this time we left the main road before Sarti and deposited our bodies at the Armenistis campsite.

Accommodation in a house, mobile home, or come with a caravan / tent?

If you come in high season, i.e. like us in August, I recommend booking your accommodation in advance via the internet or calling directly. They speak pretty decent English at the reception and there is good communication with them. The peculiarity of this camp is that, in addition to the places for tents and caravans offers accommodation in many different facilities. There are about 5 types mobile homes, bungalows, caravans and even so-called Glamping tents. Nothing interesting at first glance for us true followers of camping, but when I saw the comfort in some of the bungalows, more than one heretical thought began to creep into my brain. cheeky

Camping grounds? Clean and plenty of space

Regarding washrooms, toilets and other facilities, there is still room for improvement. Toilets and washrooms are clean, service checks and wipes them several times a day. But there is the usual ailment of all camps. The hot water flows quite irregularly at the time of greatest use - i.e. at around 19 p.m., because a lot of people are taking a shower. So I recommend showering earlier just to be on the safe side. There are a few areas for communal cooking and a few covered areas for washing dishes. We even found a changing table for small children near one of the washrooms. You can easily bring electricity to the tent or caravan, the number of sockets with sockets is sufficient, but don't forget to take at least a 10m extension cord with you just in case.

Programs, events, shopping and dining

Since the Armenistis campsite is quite far from civilization, it is necessary to bring basic food or buy it in the mini market right on the premises. For bigger and cheaper shopping, you can go north to Nikiti, where there are large supermarkets Lidl, or Masoutis, or south to the popular resort of Sarti. Despite the fact that Armenistis is located far from large cities, it is quite lively. Various animation programs and traditional Greek evenings with live music are organized in the tavern. The food menu is quite limited, but they make quite tasty Pasticcio or Moussaka here (each dish approx. EUR 8,50) and in the beach bar you can have a lot of cocktails (Mojito EUR 9) in addition to an iced frappe. I found an article about comparing the prices of European campsites. I think camping Armenistis in the west, so you can compare the prices with other campsites in Europe >>  Information about price comparison of campsites

Swimming is the main attraction

The biggest attraction (at least for us) is the beaches in Sithonia. The one in Armenistis Bay surprised us very pleasantly. The vast beach with fine golden sand and turquoise water is lined with pine trees and plane trees. When you combine this with the endless blue horizon that ends the massive massif of the sacred Mount Athos, the cards in your camera or mobile phone will be filled with beautifully cheesy pictures, one poem. After all, you don't have to stay only on this beach. Other beaches such as Portokali (Orange) beach or Kavourotripes are within driving distance. You can reach them by car along winding dirt roads between pine trees. Other gems, such as the nearby Robinson Beach, are only accessible from the sea. If you go on a paddleboard or a boat about a kilometer along the coast to the south, you will discover the wild beach of Phaki. There is no bar, toilet or other amenities of modern civilization and if you are looking for a place where you can bathe as God made you, this is the ideal place.. Yes

And the final evaluation of the camp?

Armenistis is a modern campsite in beautiful nature with all the facilities you can imagine. Perhaps the only thing missing is a swimming pool, but it replaces the turquoise sea and pleasant sand on the beach in the campsite and in the surrounding area. The prices are also reasonable and we got much more for our money than we expected. Maybe that's why we come back here regularly. heartcool
