Another tip for hikers and families with children is the Spejbla and Hurvínkam adventure circuit, which is located near the system of Pilsen ponds. The city of Pilsen has prepared for you this unique movement-experiential educational circuit for the anniversary of the birth of the puppeteer Josef Skupa (January 16.1.1892, 8.1.1957-January XNUMX, XNUMX). Josef Skupa lived in Pilsen from the age of five and was the director of the puppet theater of the eared man, who was supposed to become a caricature of the clever townspeople.
The puppet was named Spejbl and Skoupa performed with him for the first time in the fall of 1920. In 1926, Gustav Nosek made a kind of smaller and improved copy of Spejbl as a surprise for Skupa. Skupa got excited about the new puppet and immediately put it on stage. "Speyblátko" soon got the name Hurvínek. Skupa started creating successful performances in which Spejbl appeared as a confused and stupid father and Hurvínek as a cunning son. The city of Pilsen is one of the cradles of the Czech puppetry tradition, which has been on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage since 2016. In addition to Josef Skupy, Jiří Trnko and a number of local puppet theaters represent more than a hundred years of tradition. The exhibition of the Puppet Museum continues their legacy. You can find the museum in the middle of the historic center on Republiky Square (Náměstí Republiky 23, Plzeň).
Presentation of the Spejbla and Hurvínek circuit
You are standing at the start of a five-kilometer circuit that contains 10 stations and starts and ends at this location. The main motto of the trail is entertainment, education and movement in the fresh air. That's why you'll find an exercise for both children (children) and adults at each stop. For better motivation to move, an interactive QR code is placed on each board, which, after reading it on your smartphone, will start the Spejbla and Hurvínek dialogue. At the same time, you will read interesting facts about local monuments and rare locations. At several stops you will also find a wooden statue of Spejbl and Hurvínek. The individual locations show you not only your current location, but also the distance you've traveled, the number of steps and how far you have to your destination.
