10 caravan or caravan travel tips - the first ride

All articles_button

We've written a few paragraphs that could help you get off the road in the right direction! Are you going to go on your first caravan trip? Great! It is an exciting time of freedom, fun and excitement from a new experience. But it is also a big step. It may be more challenging than it seems. Suddenly, factors such as what to take with you are time spent on the road and where to park, more important. So we have put together some tips for beginning caravan users, which will make your vacation in a caravan a real vacation and a time of active rest.

1) Create a checklist

You will need a wide range of things that you normally do not need, but are more than important when traveling with a caravan. There is no need to mention things like a reserve fuel canister or a first aid kit. Here is a complete list of things we consider more than practical.

In case you forgot one of the things or just didn't take it, because it seemed useless - you can buy most of them along the way. The only problem is that it often doesn't pay off financially.

2 Make sure your caravan is safe

Once you have basic information, you should make sure that the caravan is safe and secure. It is best to write a checklist again before you leave, which is to be held before each trip, which we have written here.

Necessary checks include whether drawers or other loose objects are secured, that windows and doors are locked. Disconnection from gas and water supply. It is also important that the lights of your vehicle and caravan are functional and all tires are properly inflated.

3) Plan at least a little forward

Before you leave, you need to arrange a lot of things, from insurance, through purchase to service inspection of the car, which means that you do not have so much time to focus on the program. Even if you have in your head a rough route that you want to travel, experiences that you want to remove from your wish list, or places that you must visit, do not forget to find out in advance at least the basic things that will definitely make your journey easier. These are, for example, routes (roads, motorways,…), tolls, generally prices in some cities or countries, or just ordinary campsites.

Our personal tip: If you are deciding what to visit and do not go so-called "blind", buy a book travel guide in the bookstore. You have "almost" unlimited space, so why not take 3-4 extra books? You can find lots of ideas for trips, restaurants, shops, beaches, or just read something about the history of the site. In most of them, there is also a fairly acceptable map or route proposal. If you find it unnecessary to pay for book guides, you can also borrow them at the library, where the rental period is extended in summer.

4) Coming soon

It sounds like a cliché, but nothing in the middle of summer pisses you more than spending unnecessary extra time in a column. Building on the aforementioned tip, it will be 100% worthwhile to pick up anchors early and head out on the road before the crowds of cars take part in a race, somewhat better known, for a landmark. Packing children, caravans, and other things, or just checking them out, takes more time than you think.

5) Be prepared for closed spaces

A caravan trip is a test for you and your partner. And not only that. Also in the case of a larger number of participants in the tour, it is good to realize that the caravan will be a refuge for all its current inhabitants. Especially on longer holidays, think carefully about whether you can imagine spending privacy with someone. Usually the rule pays off - one family, one caravan.

6) Work as a team

Whether it is small cleaning, cooking, car management and the associated technical side. Anything. Be just, at first glance, simple parking. Make sure you and the other participants are on the same wave. It will make your time easier and you will not needlessly get into unpleasant situations.

7) Perform a setup routine

If you've spent much time on the road, the last thing you want to do is spend hours setting up your vehicle. Again, the training run is useful because the process will be more efficient over time. Since each caravan is different, the setting is different. Connect the car to gas and water. Then check the gas supply and water supply: heating, taps, oven, refrigerator, etc.

8) Exchange views with others

After arrival to the campor wherever you meet other caravans, get in touch with your neighbor, get new experiences, tips, tricks that nobody else can tell you. In addition, you can get a hike / camping tip or just practice a foreign language.

9) Pack well

It's best to refer to 3 for this tip: follow your checklist. However, as a general rule, it is better to have practical things in the car than the unnecessary load on your car. A tip for a list of things is here.

10) Enjoy!

How many times have you rent a caravan? Traveling with him is much easier and more adventurous. You can go wherever you want, you don't have to worry about where you sleep, practically nothing is at all. You stroll your way as a travel agent would never allow you to do so, and at the same time many times more comfortably than a car and sleeping under a tent. Who didn't feel like he wasn't. Who has experienced it knows what we are talking about.
