Just a short distance from Náměstí Míru is Chodské náměstí. Chodský hrad with a cylindrical tower stands on this square. From the very beginning, the castle was intended as the seat of the royal burgraves, who from there managed the affairs of the Chods - free peasants guarding the border. Today, the castle is home to the Chodska Museum. The museum has rich collections dedicated to archaeology, ethnography, paintings, works of art and the history of the city. The castle tower is also open to the public. You can find the J. Jindřich Museum on Náměstí Svobody. The new museum exhibition of music composer J. Jindřich presents part of his ethnographic collection. Visitors can see, for example, under-paintings on glass, Chod costumes, ceramics and folk furniture.
The Špillar Brothers Gallery is also located in the building. Paintings by the painters Jaroslav and Karel Špillar are exhibited here. These artists drew inspiration for their paintings from Chodsk, from its picturesque landscape and from the life of the Chodsk people. The gallery also hosts short-term art exhibitions.
