Cycling tour in the Czech Switzerland - Pravčická gate

During our extended summer cycling weekend in northern Bohemia, we chose Czech Switzerland as the goal of our trip. On the recommendation of friends, we chose Mezní Louka as the starting point for trips. More precisely, the local camp, which is located about 5 kilometers from Hřensko. Its location is ideal for visiting the Pravčická gate and gorges. Camp Mezní louka He did not directly inspire us, but he did not disappoint either. Sanitary facilities and washrooms were quite nice and kept relatively clean, we set up a tent in a place covered from direct sunlight, so we did not miss anything. In addition, it was possible to use a bicycle storage room in the camp, which was more than practical when we had a full day hiking trip planned for the next day.

In the morning we set off along the red tourist sign towards the Pravčická gate. For a journey that is sometimes quite narrow and full of stones and tree roots, I would recommend solid sports shoes to everyone. Although, on the other hand, we met several enthusiasts in flip-flops or slippers along the way, who still managed the journey, as well as parents with a pram, who sometimes had something to do to get on the road and overcome it with this cart. On the other hand, pets, ie dogs we met at least ten, had no problem with the trip.

The weather was nice, so we could easily leave the waterproof jackets that we took with us in the camp. But if it starts to rain, there aren't many places to hide along the way. So if I do not count a few rock overhangs, which were occasionally visible and could be used as a shelter from the rain if necessary.

As the hands of the watch approached noon, we climbed the last steps to the entrance to the Pravčická Gate and the Eagle's Nest restaurant. After paying the entrance fee, we joined the crowd of other tourist enthusiasts. Unfortunately, it was the huge mass of people that disappointed me a lot, because there was almost no movement on the spot and one felt more like in a big city than in nature. This incredible crowd took away my appetite not only for lunch (we probably wouldn't see that anyway, and if we did, a lot of people would step by the table and watch significantly when we get off the table), but also for a thorough tour of the whole place.

The views and the Pravčická Gate were very nice, but as I say, totally overcrowded. And we still had a trip to Hřensko ahead of us, where we still wanted to visit the gorges, ie ride them on boats. However, already at the moment when we left the Pravčická gate, it was clear to me that it would probably be head to head there as well. And it was only Friday. I didn't even want to imagine what it must look like on the weekend…
