Reviews of the German campsite Bella Augusta - Bavaria

All articles_button

Another German camp I visited during my bike tours in Bavaria was the Bella Augusta camp, located near the city of Augsburg. Let's try to imagine it so that you have an idea whether you would visit this camp or not. The name of the camp suggests that Augspurk was in the past a Roman colony called Augusta Vindelicorum and was founded by the Roman emperor Augustus himself.

Large and busy campsite

This is a large and quite busy camp, which is visited by many caravans and carpenters. There are about a hundred places to camp for the janitors alone. The summer months are really busy here, so I had trouble finding a cozy and quiet place for his little tent. In the end, I didn't find him, so in the end I was grateful for a piece of small space in the very center of the camp, where, of course, there was constant hustle and bustle. The advantage of German camps, however, is that people are really considerate of each other and strictly adhered to the convenience store, so you can sleep well in a crowded camp. Yes

Possibility of camping accommodation

- own tents

- own caravans and motor homes

- The complex also includes rooms in the pension area

The overall equipment of the camp

As is clear from my previous reviews, I always pay a lot of attention to the sanitary facilities, so even at the Bella Augusta campsite it was no different cheeky. The local camp had fourteen washing booths and eight showers. There were also twelve toilets and even one sauna, which I saw for the first time in the camp. However, if you encounter bad weather, it is not a bad idea at all, because you will warm up properly in the sauna and do something else for your health. cool

Kitchen and restaurant

There was a washing machine and a small kitchen in the camp. It was even possible to start a fire here, which is rather an exception in Austrian and German camps. There is also a restaurant on site, which is situated by a natural lake. Inside is a large hall, which is entirely in wood, from durable wood there are also tables and benches. Very nice environment in which you can indulge in Bavarian light beer Lauterbacher. There are four types of beer juice available, which are graded according to the percentage of alcohol in one bottle. You can choose Brotzeit Bier with 5,1 percent alcohol, Natur Hell with 4,8 percent alcohol, Natur Radler with 2,5 percent alcohol and Natur Weizer with 5,3 percent alcohol. To buy groceries you have to walk about 500 meters. Yes

Sports in the camp

Camping Bella Augusta is located in the immediate vicinity of Lake Autobahnsee, where you can sunbathe and swim. There are several nice natural grassy beaches for sunbathing. You can also go fishing by the lake and enjoy the lush greenery around the lake. The camp also has a large playground and a bicycle rental was available at the main box office. There is also a table tennis table and a beach volleyball court.

Excursions around the camp

Guaranteed number one is a visit to the ancient Bavarian town of Augspurg, which has a large number of historical monuments and sights. The city is not as picturesque and picturesque as, for example, Regensburg or Bamberg, but fans of history will still be thrilled. Magnificent temples of various building styles, a stately town hall or a castle, these are at least some tips for a short tour or a photographic moment. You can ride your bike safely and smoothly all over the city. The journey from the camp to the city center took me about half an hour. There are orientation signs everywhere, so you will never get lost. For me personally, the tour of the Cathedral of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was especially beautiful. It is a massive five-nave cathedral with two towers. The town hall on the Rathausplatz is also photogenic. The town hall building will take good pictures of you, as it is a large and impressive building from the first half of the 17th century. It is the pearl of German Mannerism and inside you can see the magnificent Golden Hall or the Prince's Hall.
