With bikes for the weekend to the camp La Rocca - Constantine's Spa

We have been going to the La Rocca campsite on bikes for a long time. Unfortunately, the weather didn't like it, but in the end it worked out. Originally we wanted to ride bikes straight from Pilsen, which is about 45 km, but somehow it didn't work out. My daughter had scouts for that weekend, so we had to escort her, and then it was too late. However, we enjoyed the bike ride (even with a swim) at the weekend anyway, but only then ..;)

After a long time, we had to have muzzles for more than 10 minutes and in the heat it was a real challenge. On that occasion I took a "romantic" photo ..

But this one was better: as we crossed the bridge over the Hracholuská dam ... At the time, I thought that having more time and cycling it would be really worth it. Never mind, next time it will work ..

Arrival to the camp La Rocca

After a tiring sweat on the train, we finally get off in the village of Břetislav and step on those few kilometers. At least something like that from the start. We arrive at the camp and immediately at the pub. I automatically had hot coffee. Well, at least I drank it with chilled kofola.

Immediately after that we go to the restaurant, which is part of the campsite. We see that the food is somehow cheap, so maybe it won't be some quick snacks. I ordered French potatoes and my half steak, which was on offer as the most expensive meal for 140.- The rest around 100.- CZK. When I saw the steak, I immediately began to regret that I had not ordered it either. It looked "massive" and the herb butter melted nicely on it, so I taste and yummy so quickly. I throw a proposal to exchange food into the square, but unfortunately it did not meet with success. So I ask my Miša if she lets her pee, but she already knows me and knows that I would then take the opportunity to taste her food. :-D Well, I had to try ..

After a hearty meal, I look at the mini plan, which I understood right away, and on the way to the cottage I got lost only once, so a decent balance for my conditions. We fold things and suggest a walk around the area .. The first stop was at the pool, which unfortunately was just filling. I asked the operator about it. The situation was such that they started filling the pool on time, but through some technical problems with the municipality, which began to draw water from the same source without agreement, it was not possible to fill it nonstop. It doesn't matter, as an alternative to swimming, we will choose a flooded quarry with a swimming pool the next day, which is located a stone's throw from the camp.

There are a ton of children, cyclists, carpenters and caravans in the camp

Cyclists here, cyclists there, everywhere I look .. When I saw the children driving around the camp, I froze that my daughter could not be with us, she would enjoy it there. Lots of attractions for children, playground, children of all ages ran around the camp, or played badminton, or football and the like.

About availability camping places for tents - caravans - apartment houses there was also no emergency. It was quite full for the fact that it was only June. People were obviously coming in groups. And perhaps every third person had bikes with them. No wonder. There are many places in the area that are worth a ride and a visit ..

And what about the kids, where do they play?  Of course, but first the parents had to show them how such a swing is used ...

And what about eating at the campsite

The campsite has a restaurant where they cook ... and real food .. There was also the possibility of half board, which we originally wanted to use. Unfortunately, the restaurant had over 50 seats inside, which is beautiful, but we didn't want to sit there in the heat and the terrace was still full, so our plan to use the restaurant during our stay took over. It would take more seats to sit outside about none of it ... When I think about it in retrospect, we could take the food from the restaurant to the cottage, right ... In the heat, we didn't think about it ... food, so we fed like this: D

A tip for a bike trip (even on foot) in the area with swimming

The very next day, on a recommendation, we rode our bikes. Right through Konstantinovy ​​lázně, where it was really nice. The first hike and we were already sweating like pigs. Behind the first hills we arrived at a flooded quarry. Map - the route of the ride can be downloaded here ..

I have never seen such clear clear water in the Czech Republic. So we take a break and go swimming. The swimming pool was fenced and the entrance fee was 50 CZK per person, which is not bad ..

And my best bike photo from the whole trip. People around were smiling when they saw us enter the water with helmets on. Njn, the ass must be even if it is not on the wheels ..

After about 2 hours and swimming in the quarry, we get dressed and set off for the rest of the circuit - the route. The green trail is sure. However, we did not know yet what terrain awaits us ..

The nature trail taught me one thing: walking, not cycling, or not choosing the hottest day of the year ... Unreal trail, still up and down, the character of the terrain changed from metro to meter, where narrow gravels alternated with exits and descents over rocky sections, such terrains I like. If I didn't sweat at 32 degrees like a ho * well under a burdock, I would feel just like in my element.

Final evaluation of the La Rocca campsite

When we evaluate the camp as a whole, I can say that we liked it a lot. However, nothing is 100%, so here is a list of negatives and positives of this camp with such a lavish name "La Rocca", which by the way translates from Italian as "fortress".

Positives of the camp

• good layout of the area, both cottages / bungalows and camping sites
• nice staff headed by Mrs. Edita
• we especially appreciate the peace of the night after a day trip
• great area and lots of attractions for children
• sports ground: beach volleyball, tennis, ping-pong I like the camps a lot and I like to use it
• good and cheap food in the camp restaurant
• lots of places around the camp to visit (by bike or on foot)
• showers are not for chips, but free, which I really appreciate

Camp negative

• the pool was just being filled, which, of course, was the fault of the village. But good for mid-June
• the campsite's restaurant was also appreciated by others, which meant that there was never a place to sit on the terrace. It would like more seats outside
• showers are only available until 21.00 p.m., which you need to know when checking in, especially if you have a cabin without its own shower

Negatives - positives, good bad and so on, we just all have something, but if anyone asked me if I would return to the La Rocca campsite, my answer would no doubt be: YES and not just for the weekend. We are already planning the original journey and to ride a bike from Pilsen to Konstantinek. We will give those 45 km even if the bikes fall from the sky ...
